We have three identical weekend services:
Saturday 6pm | Sunday 9am | Sunday 11am
What to expect this next weekend...
(October 11-12, 2008) We're back to our 'thru-the-Bible' study in Genesis. We hope to see you there, as we worship and learn of Jesus together!
What you'll experience in an average weekend service at Desperation Church:
- We put a great emphasis on musical worship in our services here at Desperation Church. We believe that music reaches into the heart and soul of people better than anything except the Bible, and therefore it is a large part of our service. It's always an intimate time, led by a passionate, desperate-for-God, semi-talented band. God is the focus, and it's intense, and kinda loud. Don't say we didnt' warn you. *Please see note below.
- Michael Craft teaches book by book, verse-by-verse through the Bible and provides practical application of God’s Word to our lives today. You won’t hear any weird doctrines, just biblical truths that are 'in-your-face' and relevant. Our desire is that God would touch your life during this time. CDs of the day's teaching are available for purchase in the lobby after service or by ordering.
-
A casual, relaxed environment; come dressed as you are...seriously! Listen... we realize that every church in the world says this now, but at Desperation Church we are talking "CASUAL". It's really nothing different to see people wearing baseball caps, our worship team wearing shorts, or our pastor wearing a "Vote For Pedro" T-shirt. If you want to wear a hat, go for it. If you want to wear shorts, it's okay. If you like wearing a tie, great. If you want to wear the ol' "T-shirt, shorts, sandles and tie combo", that'd be weird, but fine too. Thankfully, while men look at the outward appearance, our Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).
-
A community of people who love God and each other and are willing to make the effort to BE REAL. No "masks" allowed.
-
An excellent ministry for infants and toddlers as well as an exciting Children's Church for older children. When you enter the church, greeters will be happy to direct you to the appropriate classrooms. We have facilities and programs for children of all ages. Older Children will join us for our singing/worship time, then be dismissed to Children's Church. We ask that children under the age of nine attend Children's Church or one of the other classes rather than the main service. We are dedicated to providing a teaching environment free of distractions so that you may focus on hearing the Word of God and what He has for you It’s difficult for a young child to sit still for 40-45 minutes during a teaching. Therefore, we provide classes with activities and teaching geared toward their energy and learning level. We also have nursing and cry-rooms where you can stay with your child if you prefer.
-
Fresh coffees & teas... absolutely nothing too fancy here - it's not like we're winning awards with our coffee, because we're just not really in the coffee business. But we think it's pretty awesome.

Does that actually say, "What You'll Experience in an Average Weekend Service at Desperation Church"? Uhhh... we don't really have "average weekend services" very often.
*A quick note on D.C. worship: Worship music can be a tricky thing. In a day where "worship" is packaged and marketed to the degree that it is, our praise & worship team's heart is to take worship music to a deeper, more authentic level. Our lyrics are vertical, our style is distinct, and we are constantly exploring new and unique ways of leading our community (and ourselves) into an intimate worship experience.
You just have to experience it. A.W. Tozer once wrote, "Thirsty hearts are those whose longings have been wakened by the touch of God within them." Our desire is that people can know that touch of God, awakening their hearts to pursue Him with their lives. We want to help people, not only experience God in a weekly service setting, but to also develop a life of worship.
